Trend: Co-ords

House of Holland Pre S/S 2013
Matthew Williamson S/S 2012

Playing with prints has been a fashion favourite for the past few years. The rule book has been thrown away as everything from leopard print, floral patterns, dogtooth and polka dots have found a way to team together and make one energy fueled look. However, it's time to restore some order. Your matching skills are about to be put to the test as co-ordinates come back in trend.

We first saw the art of co-ordinating two piece outfits on the catwalk for the Spring/Summer 2012 collections. Sass & Bide, Jonathan Saunders, DKNY, Ashish, Peter Jensen and Matthew Williamson are a handful of designers who flirted with the look for this season. Nevertheless, it seems it is a look which is certainly here to say, as the likes of Henry Holland, Anna Sui and Roberto Cavalli showcased matching prints in their Pre Spring/Summer 2013 collections.

Daphne Guinness' auction

Last night Daphne Guinness raised proceeds for the late Isabella Blow by auctioning an array of her own haute couture fashion pieces.

After Blow's death, her wardrobe was put up for sale in order to settle the debts she owed on her estate. However, in order to protect the magazine editor's collection, Guinness bought it.

The artist hopes to exhibit Blow's collection at Saint Martins College and decided to auction her clothing in order to raise funds to do so.

The auction took place at Christie's in London and Guinness managed to raise a massive £476,800, with help from the likes of Lady Gaga who took the opportunity to snap up some of the eccentric fashion items.

The selection of stunning fashion on display included an ivory Alexander McQueen gown which sold for £85,250.

Summer Style: Printed jeans

Black Print Ankle Grazer Skinny Jeans, £40, River Island

Let's face it: Summer in England doesn't always guarantee sunshine. However, whilst our tans may suffer, our summer style shouldn't have to. Gloomy weather may mean our cute sun dresses and short shorts have to stay in the wardrobe, but printed jeans offer an attractive alternative.

Patterned jeans ensure that you still embody the warmth of summer, whilst keeping warm yourself. Their versatility means they can be teamed with an array of garments and consequently be worn in various different ways. You can dress your printed jeans up with a bralet top and wedges or alternatively dress them down with a vest top and a pair of hi-tops.

Here's some of my favourite in high-street stores at present...

Socialist Versailles: Chanel Resort 2013 collection

Timed to sheer perfection, Karl Lagerfeld displayed a collection which embodied "Versailles in a Socialist France" on the eve of a left-wing government being reinstated in the country.

The Chanel Resort 2013 collection flaunted Lagerfeld's gift of mastering the beauty of hybrid fashion. The creative genius reinvented Marie Antoinette in the 21st century by intricately mixing formal 18th century details with modern hemlines, contemporary fabrics and a hip-hop charm. Consequently, prompting Paris-based DJ Michel Gaubert to label the collection as 'ghetto royale'.

Every last detail, from the double C beauty spots to the short striking wigs, from the lace ruffles to the pannier dresses, from the traditional gilded jackets to the contemporary mixture of denims, perfectly combined to create a timeless charm. This, coupled with a colour palette which complemented the serene surroundings of the exquisite water fountains, generated an overriding majestic feeling, especially when considering the location of the show.
